yes and no, some say very good but some on here have had very bad ones that are mainly in the garage. If its got warranty, don't worry about it, just get one! But remember people only post problems on here, when was the last time anyone posted - Everythings great!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Agree with the above. Nothing much below 1800 rpm but really flies above that - there are better diesels around, but usually produced by BMW.......

I love mine - plenty of poke when you need it and silent cruising on the motorway

.........but will probably get a 3 litre next time around, it's even better

I've got one and it's brilliant, no engine problems at all. Starts first time every time and goes like stink for a wee diesel!

yes but it's not what you've got but how it gets there. Drove a 3 litre once and was totally hooked on every cliche about riding waves of torque. Still ended up with the 1.9 on pure cost grounds, though.

I have the 3.0 and have driven a 150 too. The 150 is soooo much cheaper to run, but not imo as nice to drive as the 3.0. The V6 is just so much smoother, also picks up from 1000 rpm.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

You're right. It was the low speed pick up that really got to me. All cost logic simple went out of the window until I came to my senses. however next time around, I will have the bigger engine (whatever that might be at the time) simply because I can

would a remap improve acceleration much? also been told a remap can give a gain on the mpg because of less stress on the engine
