    Default Cdc40 + Mp3

Well, she's arrived. A shiny new pomegranite red cdti auto exclusiv estate with plus pack which includes cdc40 dab radio. I was doubtful at first at how good the dab radio would be as here in Dorset the coverage is pretty patchy. But it's brilliant. Better reception in all circs than fm.

However, searching these pages and looking at ipod compatibility etc leads me to my question.

I want to use an mp3 player in the car. I have an ipod but that stays in the house and i don't want to spend out on another ipod as they are over priced and have their own file structure. Just an mp3 player will do with a 3.5mm jackplug output. So would this http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/sho...ZproductJJ1220
work with fakra adaptor leads and a 3.5mm jackplug to twin phonos. Seems like it would be a much cheaper option. I realise that the mp3 would need a separate power supply or use its internal battery.

How short sited of Vauxhall not to specify that it should be mp3 compatible!

    What do folks think?

I put something similar on my CDC40 and it totally distorted the radio reception. So I went and brought a FM transmitter for my Minidisk player form Belkin here.

It's not brilliant but not bad and my radio is good. I just had to find what worked best for everything and lukily I was able to swap my unit for the transmitter.

Will do Dennis. We do sometimes get over to Bridport. We used to have a static caravan at Seatown til we moved to Dorch nearly 3 years ago. You might sometimes see me in my XJS as well. We're showing it at the Signals Museum in Blandford on Sat if you're interested! What colour's yours?

Use an FM transmitter with my Garmin to play MP3s and it works a treat with the CDC40 opera. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to mute the sound from the player other than switching the thing off. Can't understand why there isn't a mute button on the steering wheel.

Dennis - I'll keep a look out for you out and about. I've always liked the mx5 but can't fit my in the boot! I think saturday could be off due to weather.

Twotanks - I know what you mean about lack of muting. The nearest I've got is listen to dab or the cd and hit the button on the steering wheel to go to fm, which is set to a 'blank' station, currently 87.5 for me. Thanks for the fm transmitter tip. I think I'm going to get a gear4 fm transmitter as it did well in which? tests. £25 at play.com at the mo.
