    Default Car Colours

just reading my metro paper and came across an interesting feature on car colours. Here is the current make up of cars sold in the uk compared to 10 years ago

    colour 2004 1997

    Blue 7.3M 6.2m

    Silver 5.6m 2.1m

    Red 5.4M 6,7M

    Green 3.3M 2.2M

    Black 2.6M 1.3M

    White 1.9M 3.5M

    grey 1.8M 1.5M

    Gold 260,747 388,288

    Purple 217,825 144,735

    Yellow 206,917 158,041

According to Quentin Wilson, White is not trendy anymore, and really bad on a luxury brand, Dark green is back bigtime on prestige cars, Red is safe choice, as is Blue, Silver and Black and Brown and metalic gold have always been out.

The guy next door has the new shape M3 in white. But according to Mr Wilson white might not be trendy anymore but it looks the dogs do-darrs in my opinion.

I'm not so sure black is out of fashon and Green is often looked upon as an unlucky colour.

However, I think that all cars look better in some colours than others. A Land Rover for example always looks right in Epson Green, yet that colour would look out of place on say an M3.

I do remember reading somewhere that white is due to make a comeback though.

I saw a white Signum recently! All I can say is Yak!!! It just looked horrible - I'm sure the resale value of that will be much lower than the other colours.

Your right it will hit its resale value and desirability. Yet say a 106 rallye for arguments sake would look fine in that colour as would a Combo van LOL. Again its all down to the vehicle and also personal taste.

aparantly a lot of police forces are changing their cars to silver, as the resale value is a lot more than for a white car.

Some cars 'need' to be white though, like the 106 rallye which only came in 4 colours, red, black white and blue and the evo, but the link is motorsport. A lot of motorsport cars are white as the sponsors logos always look better on a white background.
