    Default Fiat Engined Vauxhall's??

A friend of mine just text me(I know, its not even 8am yet), and told me he was going to buy a 1.9CDTi Vectra, but has changed his mind due to them having Fiat bottom end's.

    Is this true??

The 1.9 CDTI is a joint development between GM and the Fiat group. Tell him to buy a Ford TDCI diesel instead, then he can have a Citroen engine in it!

Most people are extremely happy with the CDTI engines as they are frugal and punchy. There have been some forum subjects about reliability but if you look at the articles, most people only write to talk about what went wrong, not the 99 things that went right - human nature.

I personally would have another one without hesitation. The rest of the car is pretty good, too.................

If he had bought it and was happy with it and then found out it was a Fiat engine what would he have done
People are too quick to judge on old reputations and have a negative attitude before they even try something.
Yes there are the odd problems with the car but show me a mass produced car that is sold in such vast numbers that doesn't?

I totally agree with your comments, the problem is, he is one of these people who know's what he like's, and he was going out on a limb(for him anyway) by getting a Vectra, and as soon as he found out about the engine he decided againt it.

I would happily have a 1.9 over my 2.2, regardless of where the engine comes from.

love the 1.9 CDTI 150 Engine....i was loaned a 1.8 petrol vec while my siggy was in for service....I really would not go back to petrol again, Plu Here in Germany the price of petrol is now around 30 cents more than Diesel per liter.

Alot of manufacturers are doing this nowadays. Like someone said the ford 2.0 tdci is the same as the Peugeot/Citroen one. And also the new 1.6 turbo in the Peugeot 207 is a BMW engine that is in the latest mini. Again, more ways for the manufacturers to save money. Just like the Citroen C1/Pug 107 and the Toyota Aygo are basically the same car built in the same factory just different bodywork
