Post I'm sure I am well behind here but...

I've had my face lift Vecy for about two days now and I've had a few thoughts. Now some of these may have been covered before but I'm sure I'll have a unique view on things as usual so I'll bang them out anyway.

    1) WHAT THE BL**DY HELL WERE THEY ON WHEN THE DESIGNED THE LIGHT FIXTURES!!! I got some nice silver bulbs to replace the indicators up front and had a look to see if it would be a quick job. Looked a bit awkward so I read the manual (not something I often do but for some reason I did) just to save time... It only tells you in the book that you should take it to the dealers to change the bulbs on the driver side!!!! Recons you have to remove the light fitting?!? So if my light goes, it would be illegal to drive the car on the road and I'd have to get a recovery vehicle to come and take me to a Vx garage to have the bulb changed? I'd like to meet the guy that though that up, I can see the meeting now...

"So how can we boost our after tax profits next year?"

"I know, lets make the cars so that people have to bring them in to change every little thing and then we can charge the £50 a time!"

"What a great idea! Right, now that's sorted, lets go down the pub"

What an a$$! Anyway, it was a pain in the backside but I managed the passenger side by just removing the filler tube for the washers along with three layers of skin from my knuckles. For the drivers side I removed the air box but it was still a pain.

    2) Moving on, I had chance to examine the air intake and box while I was removing it (removed the bottom trumpet as soon as I got home). I couldn't believe my eyes though! The intake trumpet at the front was not pointing into air flow, in fact it was pointing at the back of the plastic chrome section!? So the air would have to flow to the intake from the bottom grill or through the small gap between the bonnet and the bumper. How mad is that?

Not to worry though, I fished out my good old pen knife and together we sliced out a rectangle of plastic to allow direct air flow from the front. Eat that Vauxhall!!!

You're not going to get any pictures of that because it was dark and I was using a torch (always the best time to attack the car with a knife ) so I couldn't get any pics. You would have to remove the front bumper to get at the area properly but I managed to unscrew the top and lean it forward enough to gain access. If you look at the front, through the grill; there is an angled plastic shield behind the grill, which, forms a box section in there. I cut away a rectangle at the top, out of sight, so now air flows through the grill, up the plastic shield and into the air intake.

Other than that, she seems very nice! Been calling everyone I can with my new Bluetooth car phone system, it's great! Also made sure I added the local Halfords to my Sat Nav destinations.

Iam very pleased to see that you are very happy with your new motor. It would be nice to see some pic's of your car when it is daylight.

Why wait till next week, I'll transplant a gas turbine in tomorrow and take it out drifting.

Seriously though, I will be modifying it but probably not as much as the last one.

You must be driving so fast that you are sucking them in

Shouldn't mess with the intake too much, it may be designed that way to keep water out mate.
