    Default Glasgow area question.

Im off up to Inverness in Aug for a week at Nairn lockloy.
I am thinking the trip from Manchester is far to long to do in one run with a 18 month old in the car. So i'm thinking of going up to the Glasgow area the day before and staying in a hotel overnight and do the rest of the run the morning after. The same will apply for the return trip.
So i'm after any recomendations for a hotel on route around the Glasgow area.
    Any ideas are greatly appriciated.

glasgow's not that far. go on viamichelin.com and type in the route. it will give you milages AND times along the way. travelodge or that sort of place may have offers on at the mo.

We've been to Lochloy too. We stopped off in Kinross. Good idea to break the journey. It's a long way!

You're not really going to be going through Glasgow...
    Up the M74, M73, A80, M80, A9

Try Cumbernauld, just to the north of Glasgow, and an ideal stepping stone to heading north and for splitting the journey

Not meaning to be rude, but the trip from Manchester to Inverness isnt that far, i suspect its only gonna take 6 hours tops, Once past Lancaster you can get your foot down a little bit, pretty much all the way to Glasgow, then once the top side of Stirling and onto the A9 the same again.

I personally wouldnt split it over 2 days, i would rather a longer drive and spend 2 extra days in Inverness, thats for sure.

If you are intent on stopping though, there is a Travel Inn in Cumbernauld, right by the roundabout with Asda and Maccy's on it. There is also a Police Station type place dead opposite so your car's safe. Alternatively sto in Perth, it 112 miles from Perth to Inverness, according to the sign on the A9, so it leaves you a very lesuirely drive on the 2nd day, then stop at Carlisle on the way back down.

Its a mahoosive trek for an 18 month old mate especially in the middle of summer

Defo split the journey up along the way, go with the guy's from the central belt recommendation's for hotel's and also remember the speed camera's on the A9 as they catch out LOTS of folk's
