Default The day the vectra nearly got beat.

My GOD what a traumatic day.
Me and my partner went to pick her daughter up fron Uni in Kingston. Its chucking out time from the Halls on residence.she phoned the night before suggesting we took the 2 cars as she had acquired alot of stuff in her first year there.Nah I said you can fit anything in the back of the vectra.
    NEARLY A BIG MISTAKE.
We arrived there and I saw this mountain of boxes with her work books in.
    Her tv
    her computor
    her printer.
    her stereo
    bedding.duvet pillows etc
    2 large holdalls of washing
    1 large suitcase
several carrier bags of other gear.

Right back out to the car, dropped the double bk seat.
And after 45 mins going backwards and forwards and filling every nook and cranny.
I managed to fit it all in.

Am really glad the vectra has good size wingmirrors cos there was about a 6 inch square of viewing out the rear window, not the best way to drive through London.

When she and her friends move into their rented house in august, think i might just use the 2 cars next time .

Yep you can imagine how much there was, when it would only and I mean only just fit in.Deffo going to take the 2 cars when she goes bk ..cos I no doubt she will have a mountain of food bought by us to see her through a few weeks when she goes back.

I agree, the Vec just swallows everything up ! You wouldn't believe the amount of fishing gear that goes in mine when me and my mate go for a long weekend or so plus the camping gear, bait, food and clothing.

Collected a new patio furniture set this afternoon and the lot just about fitted in, large wooden table, 4 wooden chairs, parasol and base. Oh and the parcel shelf !!!

I got the vectra because it was bigger than the Ren-no sport tourer that I had...........

......oh, and the small point that it would actually get from A to B without the assistance of my friends from the AA. I looked at Parkers forum and every single fault shown on there happened to my car, plus the poltergeists in the Xenons (took 4 visits before they worked out that the level sensor had stopped working - doh!).

The vectra estate swallowed everything from my son's 2 years at uni with a little help from a top box. Even better I can get my racing mainsail for my boat in and rolled without creasing it (these things are 600 quid each) - never could do that in a ren-no.

I was really pleased to discover that I could simply slide a 6ft. long wardrobe straight into the load area on my Vectra hatch (with the back seats down). Similarly a fridge freezer just over 5 foot long. even the hatch is a good load-lugger

I've often gone to Costco & bulk buy up on nappies when they are on offer.
I hav to laugh at myself every time in the car park emptying the packs out of the card board boxes & squeezing them in here there & every where around a push chair, two car seats and the missus.

The size of the boot is amazing, i can fit soooooo much in there and not worry. The wife has a astra (54 plate) and the boot is tiny.
