    Default Noisy Tyres

I've currently got factory issue Bridgestone Turanza ER30, 215/55/16, on my Signum 2.2auto direct. The car itself is very quiet but I'am getting a lot of road noise from the tyres, Bridgestone claim on their web site that these tyres are one of the quietest around but I beg to differ. The handling, wear rate and grip are excellent but so noisy, the loudest tyres I've had. Has anybody else had any road noise issues with these tyres or other tyres on Signums or can recommend quieter tyres.

Hi Mate, The siggy is particularly prone to tyre noise I think it's to do with the aluminum suspension parts etc.
I've had a load of this with the two siggy's i've had and the best value for money tyres out there and also the quietest by far are the MAXXIS MAV1.
What the hell are they you might ask well they are not cheap far east rubbish but American and have been awarded allsorts by Ford in the states and due to the exchange rate at the moment they are mega cheap here. have a look at www.jettyres.co.uk my last pair came from them and very good service too.will be ordering another pair shortly.
ordered one day arrived the next had fitted at eden tyres in derby who have one of these superb Hunter balancing machines which is also a major issue with the siggy!

I'm sure a lot of people have said the bridgestones are noisy and when they changed tyres the noise went away.

On reflection, I had them fitted to my 2004 registered Vectra and they were relatively quiet. I've currently got Goodyears fitted to my 2006 Vectra. Once they've worn down, they're being binned for something that actually gives you some confidence when taking corners. I'll probably be fitting Bridgestones as I found them to handle better than the Goodyears.

How do you find the Goodyears (handling wise) compared to the Bridgestones?

Handling wise no problems with Bridgestones, its just the noise.

Have you tried bumping up the pressure to the top end all round, I think it is about 34 psi. I think the specified pressure is a bit low and contributes to noise and excess tyre wear on the edges.

Too much pressure and the centre tread will wear quicker though.
