    Default Tuning box and economy

Hi all, I am thinking of fitting a tbox to my 1.9cdi(150). I do a big mileage every year, 40k to 50k, and wondered if it would improve the economy of the ca and if so how much buy. The concern I have is does it affect the long term reliability of the car because I will keep the car till it has done about 150,000 miles. The box I am thinking of buying is the spider. Any help would be appreciated.

think AJA is most qualified to speak about the spider... but IMO economy is roughly the same because as you've got more power available you tend to stick yer foot down a little more through the gears thereby negating any economy benefit you would gain.. Although to say that, because its more torquey you'll find that you wont have to rev so high in each gear thus saving fuel that way... just my ramblings...

and AJA can also comment on the long term reliability of it as well....

I didn't nitice much difference in economy with a box on mine (not the spider). But it does fool the computer into thinking you're getting better mpg.

The only way to tell with the box on is how many miles you get on a tank full.

As for reliability, I didn't have any issues, but it did worry me to the point that I sold the box as I will be keeping my car for a few years and I didn't think it worth the risk.

So it looks like the economy will be roughly the same as long as I don't go around booting it because of the extra power. Just need so more feedback on reliability please.

sod the economy, when youve driven with a box you will want the power anyway.
