The whole key (including cutting) is £37.50 + VAT plus whatever your dealer will charge you for coding it to your car. Any more then £15 + VAT and they are taking the pee.

Yep, the flip key is now the only type of key you can get as a replacement - two button for facelifts, three button for pre-facelift.

I think all new keys are the flip ones so I would say yes, I got a flip key for my 04 pre face lift.

Is that a common price then for a replacment, as the dealer near work quoted me about £100. I dont have the key code though so they said it would cost £15 to get this from vx. Unfortunately when I bought the car the guy had lost the second key.

Every Vx garage I spoke to quoted me a different price for the Tech 2 bit - anything up to £50 but £25 - £30 was about average. Tech 2 seems a good money maker at £1 per minute, which may or may not include a tea break

Yes. The £37.50 + VAT is the list price so no dealer should be charging more than that. If they are then they are trying to rip you off. As Ian said above, the bit where it varies hugely is what they charge for the Tech 2 as that is the bit they have control over. But as I said above, any more than around £15 + VAT and they are taking the pee. It takes only a few minutes to program it to the car. They need to sit in your car and do it so the longest part of it is probably them walking out to your car!
