Default CD70 Audio Disc stuck Please help!!!

My CD70 navi has decided that it likes the CD I've put in so much that, it is refusing to give it back!!!! I put the CD in as normal this morning and it came up invalid CD (its an original album, not a burnt disc). Tried to eject, no joy, invalid CD came up again.

didn't have time to mess about, so set off. Tried to play the disc and it Plays OK. so I kept trying to eject the disc, but same problem. It's like the mechanism has let go of the CD, or won't grab the CD to push it out.

when I got to work, I switched off the car but the screen did not go off/black straight away, it seemed the unit was off but the screen was still on, and after 1 minute or so the screen then turned off.

Is there a way I can release the CD (like the paperclip hole you get on CDROM drives) or do I need to get it to a dealer. its a 55 plate sxi so still covered by vx warranty and also under netQ. Will this be covered under warranty? I'm looking for a quick solution, so if I can avoid a dealer trip that would be useful.

    Thanks for your assistance.
    Lee.

I had a look at this,
    http://forum.vectra-c.com/showpost.p...82&postcount=6
the problem being that in the slot on the CD70 the CD seems to be lower (like the mechanism moves the CD in and then Down; OR possibly the CD has dropped as a result of the mechanism letting go). This, I think, will make it difficult to get anything UNDER the CD in order to grip it.

I'll have a go in a minute over lunch break. but does anyone else have other suggestions?

Try disconnecting the power to it for a couple of minutes - it may reset

    Default Sorted!

thanks for reply Ian. In the end I managed to get the CD ejected. I pushed another CD in, which must have triggered some switch somewhere as it then read the original cd in the drive correctly. Then I was able to eject it.

It was actually like although the CD was there and playable, the system had not correctly registered its insertion. By fooling the unit that a disc had been put in, it was then happy to eject a cd.

Tested unit after, now its happy to play and eject CD. And the odd delayed unit switch off is also cured. dunno what that was all about.

jobs a good'un; but will this problem recur? only time will tell....

I have a domestic Panasonic HD/DVD recorder that does the same - If it doesn't recognise the disk it just keeps on trying & then sulks & won't respond to anything

    Good luck!
From what I can remember, you'll hear/feel the second cd going in; but keep hold of it (otherwise you might end up with 2 stuck discs!). It's the act of inserting the second disc that triggers the mechanism, and in my case allowed the original stuck CD to then be ejected.
I think my issue may have been caused by me putting the CD in the drive, then starting the car as it was still reading the disc.
