Quick Question

Hi Just a quick question.
Just wondering if, when i put the key in my vectra and turn it once, should it display the spanner icon next to the D icon? then when i start the car it goes and when i take the key out it shows it again?. (hope u guys no what am talking about) is this what it should normally do?

I dnt have the owners manual, usually when you put the key in it lights up all the icons on the dash so i fort maybe it just comes up but now i dont really know.

Is it a spanner through an oilcan, or a spanner inside a car?

But it only lights up when i turn the key once? thats when all the lights on the dash light up? then when the enegine is started it disappears and until i have taken the key out. it lights up under the rev meter?

Ok the service was done last month by my local garage not vauxhall, does dat mean only vauxhall know how to get rid of the sign?
