    Default Tomtom 710 ringtone

I am going to remove my hard wired phone handsfree kit (through the stereo and mutes the radio etc)- I am fed up with both devices in the car taking up room.

And I'm going to use the bluetooth feature of the Tomtom, through the stereo and mute etc.

What I really want to know is, how do you change the ring tone of the Tomtom? What file is in the memory card that is the ring ring tone ??

Anyone know how to do it ???

    TIA

for completeness, here is the answer

    Question
Can I use a commercially available ringtone with my GO 910/710/510?
    Answer

It is possible to use commercially available ringtones for incoming hands-free calls and sms, but you must make sure that the ringtone uses the correct audio compression format.

Ringtones must use the Ogg Vorbis format with a sample rate of either 8000 Hertz, 16000 Hertz or 22050 Hertz. You should make sure that the ringtone is not too long and test the ringtone to check that it is loud enough to be heard in a noisy car.

Save the ringtone file to the root directory of your hard disk (GO 910) or memory card (GO 710/510) with the name "ringtone.ogg". The ringtone file for incoming sms messages should be "smsreceived.ogg".

I have tried the ringtone change and it works.

Only thing is that is takes a couple of seconds for the ringtone to start.
