    Default Vectra C Elite 3.2 V6

I suspect my oil cooler has gone as I have oil in the header bottle. Problem is I have searched the web etc for a manual and cannot seem to find one. Does anybody know were the oil cooler is situated on this model. From what I have seen on other threads its between the V block but I have also seen a thread which said on certain vehicles its at the radiator.
Can anybody confirm were it is situated.

    Thanks

Yeap that problem has been heard before around the forum...sorry to hear that you have it too. The Cooler matrix is between the cylinder heads right in the "v".
probably you have read this threads....if not give them a try...

Well due to working away and a 1 1/2 week wait to get a car booked in to the garage I eventually got the garage to give me an answer today. Your head gasket has gone mate and we advise you to get a new engine as the tolerances on the v6 is so tight that it could go again within weeks in our experience. The car has done 38,000 miles and full service history. They contacted vauxhall for a tech number to see if they would contribute to it and it looks like a couple of days for an answer. But can anybody tell me if they have a similiar response to this e.g a new engine at £3500 + labour. I am not convinced it is the gasket. Oil pumps into the water bottle and comes out of the overflow in the bottle in a brown gunge. I feel the oil is cooking the water. No loss of performance though?? I feel I need to put pressure on the reputable vauxhall dealer based in Edinburgh but my worry is that they are right. Any sound advice out there?

Yes it did when it failed, but I have not been tempted to run it since it happened as I didnt want to cook the engine. I would assume that hot oil getting into the matrix would make the engine seem to be running hot. Going of the assumption the sensor would be on the water circuit?

TBH, it does sound like the headgasket has blown from the oil in the water.. if it's a manual car and the engine over heated then i'd be doing a pressure test of the cooling system to see if the system has a leak..you can check just the heads alone if you bypass the cooler by bridging the pipes out....if it holds pressure it's the cooler..

The garage is kind of right..V6's don't like being rebuilt too much but if they're careful they will take having the heads off..i wonder if they want to play safe because they suspect further damage ?
