Anyone had this problem

I know its a long shot but I have been having a problem lately with what seems like a miss... I might be being a bit anal though...

It seems to be in 2nd or 4th gear 1500 - 2000rpm, just where the bite is for the engine to start pulling (Acceleralting) it seems as if the engine is missing or it cant tell wether I am accelerating or not. The car starts to miss (Subtly)and if i keep my foot in the same position it keeps doing it... In addition I noticed it last night as I could hear the turbo hissing (Blowing off) when it was missing...

I just got the EGR valve replaced (For the 2nd time!) and it seems to have started then...

Theres not error showing on the dash either

Any ideas?

His profile says CDTi - I'm hazarding a guess it's a 1.9

Alex (AJA) is having what sounds like this very same problem. Maybe he'll see this and post up with any info.

Edit: You posted as I was typing. Alex's is the 150 version, but they share a number of the same components.

I've got the 1.9 cdti and am experienceing a misfire at 1700-1800 r.p.m. in any
gear, have read several threads on here re. this problem and spoken to my sons
mate who is a VX mecanic he reckons its a problem with the swirl pot!
I'll probably wait till the next service to have it look at

I sometimes get a misfire - it doesn't happen very often & usually just as I change gear somewhere around 2000 - 2500. Just happens the once - just coughs (150 CDTi)

Well I had it into the steelers.... They are as much use a a chocolate fireguard!.... They ECU light went off as soon as they plugged it in (Yeh Right!) and the splutter/miss I have... they cant replicate.... They said the warranty only allows they thme to do work for a certain amount of time so I have to take it away and see if happens again... if it does I have to test drive with an engineer!

Did you ever get this sorted, I am having exactly the same problem with my 1.9CDTI, would save me loads of pain at the dealers if I can point them in the right direction
