    Default Good day (Falklands)

As many off you know im an ex squaddie off 14 years and have done the rounds in a lot of conflict zones.

The thing that brought me to joining up was the Falkland war off 1982 , sadley i was a wee be too young to be there!!

Today was the official 25th anniversary of the war.
So with medals adorn i did the rounds with a few invites i had to attend ,
WOW my emotions are shattered today
learning about how so many indivdualls gave so much for that pair of islands in the south Atlantic and how we did so much in 74 days off war .

traveling 8000 miles out numbered 3 to 1 we won the conflict at a loss off 258 British deaths compared too 700+ argentinian .

i am so very proud to a British Ex Service man today

God dont it feel good to be British

    i love the UK

You were lucky to be too young Steve, the then cabinet were clueless, infact if my memory serves me they basically left the lads to do their own thing both in the water and on land, and it's my belief that had the Argies not surrendered they would have let the lads die in the fashion of someone on a computer game who just throws everything in at once and hopes for the best.

I've not heard much today about the memory of H and Mac either, mind you you wouldn't expect the news to report on VC holders would you, both awarded for bravery beyond, charging machine gun posts and getting back up each time they were hit repeatedly *for those reading who are too young to know* I look upon the whole thing as a services team effort myself, they fought it they won it, outnumbered and outsupplied should be a month of coverage of it not just a few days, I'm sorry to say it, but the majority of Britain forgets conflict/war vets all too soon, I just salute those that are prepared to stand up when called upon, as the lads are right now today.

So, come November, buy a poppy and think of the ppl that don't come home.

Glad you had a good proud day Steve
