Default seat belt warning not on

Whilst I am not too worried, but having purchased my new car (06 plate), I have noticed that the seat belt warning buzzer and light do not function.

Might this have been disabled? Is it easy to re-enable? If there is no on-dash warning could it be a fault? (in case it is possible to disable the sound but not the flashing icon on the dash)

I am assuming this is not an MOT or any other requirement - and is just there as an annoying reminder at times.

Thanks - didn't work from the moment I drove the car - only had it a couple of weeks.

I guess Network Q check doesn't cover this sort of thing.

I also hate the sound - so I am not too worried if it is quiet.

If they get it working (including the dash warning) is it possible to disable and re-enable the sound?

ma motor was in for this last week mate and the service manager told me it has been done away with even though the light is on the dash is still there he says they can turn it on and of using there tech 2 but he foned up vx and there told him it was no longer gettin used. on ma 05 plate

am puzzled why they would stop using a safety device when its in the car anyway

Strange, because seatbelt warnings give manufacturers extra marks during NCAP tests.

It should sound a warning buzzer when the vehicle is moving, the same as when the handbrake is applied when moving
Mine also gives a warning buzzer when a door is open and the vehicle is moving
