    Default 3.2 gsi at idle

Hi I have a vectra 3.2 gsi 2004 that I believe has a problem when it is idling the revs after say a couple of minutes seem to fluctuate very slightly and you can feel the car vibrate through the driving seat. The car is still got a network Q warranty so it took it into the dealer they couldn't find anything wrong and said it was running perfectly and tried to charge my 1 hours labour. My last car was a vectra B gsi and the idle was perfect no vibration what so ever has anybody else had this problem? I need to get the car serviced soon but I don’t have any confidence the dealer will find anything again.

I'd be interested if you find anything out, as my VXR does exactly the same thing, but only sometimes, and only when warm. Sometimes it idles perfectly, sometimes its "lumpy", and pulling away smoothly when its in lumpy mode is just a bit more difficult.

I will mention it at the first service, which will be next month.

Perhaps the air control valve needs cleaning. But it does sound a bit more than just the air control valve.

I've never known Mr GSi3.2 to idle hes always doing something

I'm sure he'll pop along later and tell you if his or Mrs Gsi's does the same thing.

I've got the 3.2 in an Elite (2003) and it does feel a little rough at idle at times, but I don't think this is unusual - it's a big engine and only idles at around 750RPM which is not a lot, so I'd expect some vibration etc.

Be interested to see if other 3.2 owners think the same.

Probably the mass air meter or lambda sensor.

thanks for the replies i will try the car with the aircon off but seems abit strange as the previous vectra 2.5 gsi idled perfectly and my wifes Saab does as well. Would be intrested if anyone else has been to a dealer to sort this out or is this normal for this engine ?

1st cheap fix is to put an inj cleaner in with half a tank of gas, could just be a bit of dirt.

It's nothing to worry about, mine has alway's done that and i know of two other gsi's that have a very slight vibration on tick over now and again.
