Default 1.9 TTiD - A few facts and figures

I have the low down on 'Saabs' version of this engine, so here goes.

    Power :- 180BHP @4000RPM
    Torque :- 295lb/ft @ 1850RPM
    0-60mph :- 8.0 Seconds
    Top Speed :- 140mph
    40-60 mph in 4th gear :- 5.0 Seconds
    50-70mph in 5th gear :-6.3 Seconds
    Emmisions :- 184 g/km

This makes it very similar to the current 3.0 CDTi in pure bhp/torque figures, but the TTiD should be a little quicker also.

Compare this to a current Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150

    Power :- 147BHP @4000RPM
    Torque :- 232lb/ft @ 1850RPM
    0-60mph :- 8.9 Seconds
    Top Speed :- 135mph
    40-60 mph in 4th gear :- N/A But 30-50 in 4th Gear is 6.2 seconds
    50-70mph in 5th gear :- N/A
    Emmisions :- 157 g/km

The figures above on paper should make this a fairly rapid car, especially mid range, the above is based on Saab's figures.

The Saab 9-3 1.9 TiD 150 has always been a slightly slower car than the equivelent Vectra 1.9 150, so taking this into account, and the fact that Vauxhall will be using the 190bhp version, which rumour has it will be standard at circa 300lb/ft should make for it being slightly quicker again.

OK,it is possible that the 1.9 CDTTi won't make it into Vectra C and the new car will be heavier. But over all I think this new engine will have a huge impact and the tuning possibilities will be far greater.

I have heard that Swedish Tuning company Hirsch who are approved by Saab, are working on a re-map which alone will give in the region of 220bhp.

The emissions look to be on the high side when compared to Audi/BMW/renault high output engines and the current crop of diesels.

This might put a few people off

I thought that too, only just misses the 185/186 gm/km limit for the next tax bracket. I want to have a drive in one though when they are on sale
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Ideally I'd like to see it a little lighter and a bit more power (well if the Germans can do it )

I haven't heard of a 2.7, but a GM 2.9 V6 does already exist and they say it'll be "sold mainly in Europe". See the picture of it and a write up here: - http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/03...-clean-diesel/

    • Roughly the same fuel consumption as the current 3.0V6
Sounds like an awesome engine on paper. It seems HIGHLY likely that this will be a powerplant for the next vectra; there's another thread on here with another link to more details about that.
