    Default Lets Not Forget

Today 25 years ago British Forces recaptured Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands.
The very insperation that saw me serve the colours for 14 years .

So im sat having a beer or two in memory of the servicemen (on both sides)
who lost there lives and to that tiny piece of Brithish soil in the South Atlantic.

    Rule Brittania

Inspired me too, joined up in 83. "Retired" after 22 years in Sep 05. Had two spells down there, am really glad I did. Visiting the cemeteries and memorials (both British and Argentinian) was really emotional.

I've been watching the reports that Simon Weston has been making over the last week, and seeing some of the places he's been reporting from has really brought back some memories from my two tours down there.

I especially remember saving the war cemetary at Goose Green from a peat fire. My claim to fame.

I didn't do anything to help, apart from cheering from the sidelines, but let's remember the guys who did so much, so far from home.

Phil, feeling a bit proud to be British today.

My squadron (656 AAC) took part in the Falklands war and are parading in London this week end with a fly past down the mall. Lynx and Apache helicopters. Amazing to think that it was 25 years ago. Far too many members of the forces have died in combat since then.
