    Default Help? any ideas? etc

    Hi

ive got a bit of a situation, im hoping the power of vectra-c.com can help me out here

    ok

on saturday i went to norwich to buy an astra convertible for my wife to drive around in for a few months.
This was a sale by a trader
got there , looked over the car, very clean only 61k fsh etc agreed to buy it.
so handed the money over, and went off on my merry way to put some fule in it, on the way out of norwich the ****** thing gets hot, right up into the red. so i call the guy back who says he has never had thi happen before, he would get someone there right away.
another phone call says he will get the car recovered and repaired no matter what the problem was at his cost, even idf it needs a new engine he would do it.
so i handed the car over to the guy who had come to collect it and made him sign to say he had taken it and that it would be fixed at this guys cost etc.

so monday i ring him, the car is in the garage being repaired

should be able to collect it on tuesday, so i call on tuesday to find out it was the water pump that had gone and was waiting for a new cambelt as you cant re use the old one, will be able to pick it up wednesday night.

wednesday came, i called him again, no reply
after numerous calls his 'business partner' called me to advise he had to take his daughter to hospital as she had hurt her leg on a trampoline.

ok i thinks, ill leave it till tomorrow.

so ive been caling most of the day and no reply.

    have i been ripped off?

am i being unreasonable to keep calling seeing as he has my money and my car? ( i have a full signed receipt by the way, and a key and all the paperwork for it)

im going nuts worrying that i have been conned and ive lost my money.

what do you guys think? your wisdom and a different view on things would be appreciated

    thanks

Stop phoning and go round there tell him this is turning into a farce and your next step will be trading standards.

Wouldnt start Panic'ing just yet. Could be a genuine reason for lack of response/ delay. Do you know where its being repaired? (could contact the garage direct and see if they know whats happening)

I'd say its worth going for the money, If the water pump has gone and the cambelt stayed on your lucky, they normally come off and ruin the head. Put it in writing and contact trading standards - copy a letter to them and him. You possibly reject it as not fit for purpose. Good luck mate
He could be telling the truth too, the cam belts are due at 40k with idlers.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I would hardly think then that you will be ripped off. You know where they are and it doesnt sound like a backstreet trader. Steve (my hubby) trades cars from home
The guy has said he will sort the car problem out, many could of said "sold as seen".
I know it doesnt help you but give him till tomorrow to get back to you before you take the next step (which would be contact with DVLA as well as Tradeing Standards)
