Default Anyone know where I can get a mondeo key for less than £250?

Missus has lost her only key for R reg Mondeo, we never got a key code with the car when we bought it private about 4 years ago.

Ford have quoted us at £250 just for a new key to fit the existing ignition and locks . Thats probably more than the car is worth!!

I know the key is coded and when we bought the car Ford quoted us over £100 for getting a replacement one cut, we thought we'd chance not getting it done but are now paying the price.

It's old enough that the key should program itself, but if it's gonna cost triple figures I think the above is called for and get the barrel out.

on an R reg mondeo you have to put the red tabbed key in the ignition first for the car to program a new key. I know, I had a 2.5 v6 ghia x when I was but a young(er) man.
