    Default Tuning Box - Insurance

Just phone my insurance company to tell them about my "Caterman Special". Nearly had a heart attack...

Priviledge want £150 (per year) to add the tuning box. This is based on 25% BHP increase.

Interestingly to add the Irmscher rear spoiler cost £zero extra!!

How much extra has anyone else had to pay for adding the Tuning Box??

Depends on the insurance company, some of them hate drivers of modified cars, and will load your policy up when you carry out the modifications.
Everyone must tell their insurers about any tuning boxes, mods etc. though, it's extremely foolish not to because you are effectively driving around uninsured if you don't tell them.
Try a company who specialise in modified cars - "Adrian Flux" are one of the best.

I agree. I did think about not bothering and then take the box out when I have a bump or need to claim. Then I thought, what happens if i'm in a m-way pile up. I might not be in a position to do anything! And thats when the insurance is really needed...

Rang my insurance company today, and they have said it will cost me £107 more till the end of my policy (6 Months). I have done it for now, but will ring round at the weekend, as it won't cost me to cancel my current policy it will probably be worth changing.

But the tuning box is cool, only installed it this morning and had a short run but it makes a big difference to the turbo lagg. Will be loosing the insurance company and keeping the tuning box
