Default Best polish for Black Sapphire

    Hi all,
I have a black sapphire SRi and was wondering if anyone could suggest the best polish for it?
It's only six months old but it is covered in swirl marks ad never seems to stay clean!
    Any help is much appreciated
    Scott

I've got Sapphire Black, and I've used a few products in my time, but bought Meguiars products this week, and WOW was I impressed. My car is a 52 plate, so I bought they Clay Kit, Wash, and Polish/Wax.
It's 3 for 2 at Halfords, but offer runs out very soon so hurry up!!

First washed the car with the wash stuff, then went over it with the clay to remove stuff the eye can't see, but when you look at the clay afterwards you see all the s##t removed
Then wash again with the wash stuff to remove the clay/water.
Wipe down then let dry, then apply the polish/wax (all in 1)
And look back and be amazed at the results. They Sapphire Black really stands out because you can see the sparkling bits in the black a lot better than normal, and it stays bright and glossy for ages!! And the wax/polish seals it all in, so you rarely have to do a full wash, just a hose down with water and it'd be back to being shiney

I love Megs results on my dark blue Vec..... makes the color " deeper".
Try Megs 1,2,3 step products for a starter.

    I love the meg's stuff.
I have not used the clay stuff but the results ihave from polish and the wax are great. Maybe i'll try the clay one day but it seams like to much work. I havent seen my motor for 4 weeks as i'm away so i think i'll have to to give it a good looking at with the detailing when i'm home in a week or so.

If it's covered in swirl marks, you'll probably need to find someone local with a PC (Porter Cable) so you can machine polish them out. Once rid of them, a good quality sealant such as Poorboys XP or Megs #21 and then a coat or 2 of a decent wax. Poorboys Natty Blue works really well on Black Sapphire, it brings out the mettalic flake lovely.

Thanks for the info - will they remove the swirl marks though? and is the Meguiars polish white? I remember using a white polish on my first black Vectra and it was a pain to get it out the wee knooks and crannies!

The Meguiars polish/wax is a 2 in one. It comes in a bottle, and it's a creamy white liquid.
To stop getting the swirl marks, don't leave it to dry as long.
Do a small panel at a time, and when you finish it, go back to the other end of it, and start buffing off.

I've found it so hard to get the polish off when you leave it a few minutes.

I hear ScratchX is good for removing existing swirl marks on the car - mine looks like someone has been skating across it when then sun hits it!

ayup scott i've got a sapphire black car aswell and i find using turtle wax colour restore hides the swirl marks a treat, give it a coat with that and then i use megs gold class after (gold class is a clear wax) comes out looking like a mirror mate. takes a lot less effort than washing then claying then washing again then polishing then waxing god it can go on for ever.
sounds to me who ever had the car before you took it through a car wash those things are the work of satan and will ruin your paintwork.
