Default Indicators keep switching off - still not fixed

Car had it's first service yesterday and I asked them to look at the faulty indicators.
When the right side indicators are switched on - maybe 10% of the time - they will self cancel when the wheel is turned in the direction I'm indicating. This is dangerous as you don't always notice they've switched off and you may be half way across a junction in busy traffic.
In a way it's a lot worse them cancelling at random, rather than the self cancelling not working at all - at least then I'd know (or soon learn!) to cancel them myself after every turn.
Anyway, the VX technician agreed they were faulty and has fitted a new indicator stalk (under warranty of course).
Picked it up at 5:30, and within a couple of miles they'd "self - self cancelled" twice. Went straight back but by then all the technicians had gone home!
Need to book it in again next week now, but at least they acknowledge there's a problem.......just wish they knew how to fix it.
Flex service came in at only £129 including VAT and they threw in a couple of wiper blades.

Mine does this? I thought it was just the way they worked..... But then when you only want to change lanes or that they stay on and wont cancel

    Mine do this as well.

    THEY ALL DO!!!!!

Supposedly, its been 'fixed' with the facelift model.

I find a way around it is to wait until you have just started 'turning in' and then flip the indicator. It will then stay on until you 'reverse' lock out of the right hander.

Are you guys pushing the stalk far enough? If I just flick mine the indicators flash 3 times, but if I push it to the 'stop' they stay on.
    Sorry for the stupid answer.

No, the indicators turn themselves off even if you've sat in traffic with them switched on. As soon as you move off and turn the wheel in the direction indicated they switch off.
    The techniques.....
I could try explaning that technique to the missus, but I think it would be easier to teach a card trick to the dog!
Seriously though, I don't like her taking the car down town as I know there's no way she'd notice the indicators had switched off....and woe betide anyone who pips at her!!!
If this is typical of a number of Vectras them VX should do a recall and sort this problem out.

I've not had any problems with mine, first trip was a bit scary but once i got the car home and flicked thru the manual, i realised how they worked, little tap for 3 flashes, push all the way up if you want them to stay on, not had a problem since.

Had another thought about this last night..........

remember the good old days of metal indicator stalks in old cars, lol

well, if you tried to set the indicators when the steering wheel was in a certain place, exactly where the cancellation notch was on the column mechanisme , the indicator simply wouldnt set, and you had to wiggle the wheel slightly to be able to,

well, my thinking is that is the sensor on the column is in a set position and when you aproach a junction and stop the steering wheel in a certain place a similar thing might happen, i bet it never happens with the wheels pointing forward and straight ??

sounds like the cim unit in the steering column just had mine replaced for a different fault ,but noticed that if the unit is not position right (magnet inside sweeps a pickup and turns indicater off) then that could be the problem

I always have a chuckle when following another vectra, you see all sorts of signals coming off, three winks to the left, three to the right when they try to cancel them, then back to the left for a couple *lol* always amuses me, must be very frustrating if you have faulty ones as well
