    Exclamation Another fuel consumption thread.

I drive a 2002 Vectra 1.8 SRi & my trip computer is always saying my cars consumption is 28.5mpg. Is anyone else getting this reading as I feel my car is going through far to much petrol. After all its a 1.8 I drive & not a 3.2 V6! Just feel the fuel gauge drops very fast & I dont even push my car hard that often. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

28.5 sounds good to me, remember your car is fat and therefore heavy. Seems the 3.2 boys get simular or better MPG as the engine is using torque.

I had on 03 Astra Sri 1.8 and use to average 28-32mpg and that was much lighter.

    I now have a 05 Vectra Sri 1.9 Cdti(150) and get about 45 on a bad day.

As above Matt. The 1.8 in a car as heavy as a Vectra C is going to make it drink fuel I'm afraid.

Yep - but it is very dependent on the type of driving. I currently get an average of just over 30 but that is mostly motorway and not caning it. Worst is in town driving, range drops like a stone then - especially with the auto box.

most I have had out of a tank in my 1.8 is 361, and it stuttered into the forecourt, lowest is 274. Doesn't seem to matter how you drive them, the 1.8s suck on fuel

I do mixed driving and never got below 36mpg on my 1.8. On a continuous steady motorway drive I get 40-43mpg. I must be careful on the gas!
