Default Firefighters shot at on their fire station

A firefighter narrowly escaped injury after air rifle shots were fired at Alloa Fire Station in Clackmannanshire.

The incident happened just after 2100 BST on Monday as firefighters from the station's White Watch were clearing up after a training exercise.

Shots were fired from a field behind the station into its yard. They hit the wall and just missed a firefighter.

Central Scotland Police said two males were spotted getting into a white van with blue lettering.

One was described as being in his 20s while the other was believed to be aged about 14.

A police spokeswoman said inquiries were continuing and appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.

She added: "We treat these matters very seriously and we are investigating."

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service chief fire officer Steven Torrie said it was a "very serious matter" when firefighters were attacked.

"They are prepared to put their own lives at risk to save the life of others," he added.

"I hope that everyone in the local community is made aware of this attack and the possible implications."

The incident is not the first time that the brigade's staff have been attacked.

Last August crews from Stirling fire station were attacked while attending an incident in St Ninians in Stirling.

This is my station. Cant believe its come to this.

We are used to being bricked, stoned etc by youths in certain areas, but this really takes the biscuit.

I really can't say anything that I haven't before, fill Whitehall with lefties and liberals and you can see the end result, perfect example of these ppl is that nut job who wanted Mira Hindley released, just because he had a crush on her and thought he might get a leg over.

I see where you're coming from but why should the military have to suffer these brain donors. What should happen is a proper justice system introduced whereby the punishment fits the crime and all crimes carry mandatory sentences (like murder does). Attacks on Emergency services and hospital staff = Mandatory 5 years inprisonment on conviction. The cost of keeping them locked up.....? Hey, I'll pay an extra couple of pence in the pound to keep these plankton locked up. We are taxed to the hilt over here, but that would be money very well spent.

This sort of things absolutely sicken me. People doing a job to protect others, sometimes risking life and limb, then you get the fekless, ferral waste of skin attacking you.

And yet again the authorities are unable to do anything but give out a poxy ASBO, or other such pointless penalty.

Bring back National Service and the Cane!

I completely agree, but what are they expecting to do with an air rifle at longer range? It ain't gonna do anything really.

Agreed, but it the intent of the action that is the issue. Depends on the power of the air rifle concerned.

The Andrew Morton case highlights the dangers of air rifles being discharged recklessly, by idiots:-
