I DONT KNOW IF THIS HAS ALLREADY BEEN POSTED ON HERE

A Vauxhall VX220 Turbo owner has found himself at the centre of controversy following a posting on the enthusiast site www.vx220.org.uk.

Anthony Coyne posted on the forum photos of the speedometer in his VXT reading 150mph and the view out through the windscreen during the run. The Sun newspaper has picked up on the posting and referred the incident to the Police.

The paper claims of “tracking him down in hours” and talks in its report of how it “identified the exact spot” the high speed run took place on the M20 motorway from the photos posted on the site. Referring to Coyne as “a dummy”, it talks of how it obtained the owner’s phone number and car registration from his earlier postings.

It is not known whether The Sun discovered the posting themselves or if they received a tip off – possibly from within the forum itself.

Inspector Paul Sellwood of Kent police said: “Drivers who commit offences will be dealt with. We are grateful to The Sun.”

The general voice of opinion on the site’s forum has set against the nature of the event and the subsequent promotion of it. Nevertheless, with ever more video content being posted on car enthusiast web sites, the story raises some interesting issues around exactly who might be watching any such material posted.

Sorry, but if you are stupid enought to boast to the whole planet (potentially) that you are an idiot who like speeding and then proving it by supplying phtographic (or video) evidence then you deserve to be caught and prosecuted.

There should be a law against Being an Idiot in a Public Place.

What a tool of epic proportions

If you're going to do it, make it on the Autobahn or a track...

    Muppet....
The VX220 Turbos are a Seriously Quick Little Car - they are basically an Elise with a Different Body - Same Chassis Apparently. I Cant deny that I have Considered buying one of them but pushing it to near top speed - well thats fools territory

    Unsurprisingly the Video is Gone.

    Default Food for Thought

    Do not speed?

    Do not film yourself speeding?

Do not brag on a public website as someone will drop you in it!

    Hmmmm.....

Well, earlier on, I went down the M4 towards London doing an average speed of 160mph.

Give me a couple of hours with photoshop, and I'll prove it with a photo of the speedo.

Don't worry though, because I'll make sure that the photo also shows that my cat, Ozzy, was driving at the time.

How can you incriminate yourself with silly photo's like that? How can they then be taken and used as evidence? Anyone could make a speedo read a certain speed, anyone could make the horizon look like it's coming towards you faster.
