    Default Track Days?

how does everyone feel about Trackdays? im just sorting out next yers events calender and brain storming about events that are a bit different.

If I could offer a Track day (where you use your own car), for less that £100 for a full day from 9-4pm with an open pit lane meaning you can go as you please, strict overtaking rules and marshalls present to warn wrong do-ers. It would also have huge run off areas, ie An airfield so if you spin you dont hit anything.

Would people like to do this or should i forget this kind of event?

There's all sorts of insurance implications with this. I've done a few track days using race cars and it was great. I don't fancy subjecting my car to that kind of extreme experience. Each to their own though.

    Unhappy

    Yeh, I agree with MLC.

I'm only 21 and if I told my insurance co I was gonna use the car on a track, they'd go ape.

Has anybody looked into one-off track day insurance ??

How about a meet at one of the touring car races. Went to Rockingham a while back and had a great day out.

I suppose it's OK on an airfield (like you said) with long runoffs etc.

Do Santa Pod hold days for only one particular club. If we could get enough cars going that would be another first for us and we could invite Total Vauxhall along.

Yeah, that sounds good. Might be more suited to a regional group meeting but its one for the list.

Im looking at a lotus factory tour, and one round ellesmere port but they are apparantly booked up for a while. You used to be able to take a tour of the Malcom Wilson ford rally team in cumbria but i cant find the contact details anymore. Im looking at some other similar things too.

Things like tour round 888 racing who build the BTCC astras tend to be reserved for the likes of vxscc.

They do mate, but for us its PVS. Some dragways like York, will accomodate clubs in the rung what ya brung days. ie, if we took 30 vectras they would work it in so we would have time slots to just go up aganst each other and give us our own parking area. Ive organised somthing like that before.

I've done a few track days on me bikes. I've been told to watch out for insurance company "spotters" lurking around trackside checking number plates etc. (Don't know if there is any truth in this) !!
