Default Do people want a BBQ at PVS this year? - helpers needed

If people would like a BBQ at PVS this year then we need a small team of volunteers to help on the day with the BBQ, and to organise getting food etc. beforehand (probably the day before for the meat). If we can't get this then we simply won't have a BBQ - which would be a shame especially as there are going to be at least a couple of BBQs going for the Saturday night camping.

Phil has done a sterling job with BBQs at all the previous national meets, as well as of course his own regional meets, and has been hugely appreciated. However it's almost become 'expected' that Phil is always going to do a BBQ at the national meets and this isn't fair on him - and nobody was expecting him to do it this year, just so we're clear. He had help last year at PVS which was greatly appreciated, but he still ended up spending a lot of time on the BBQ and missed out a lot on being able to see the rest of PVS.

We need to have people come forward and volunteer - and it would be nice to see it not being the 'usual suspects' who are always helping with things for the club and also not people who have been working on things already for PVS.

All we are asking is for maybe half a dozen people to take alternating short stints on the BBQ (probably two of them) to cook the food, some people to source the food maybe the day before and bring it in a cool box on the day as well as buns, paper plates, relishes etc. etc.

On the day, we'll have it that the food is cooked between a certain time so that the people manning the BBQ know they won't be on the BBQs for hour after hour. If people miss this cooking slot then they simply miss out on getting any food.

If enough helpers come forward that we can have a BBQ going, then we'll then need to quickly get an idea of numbers of people who want food and start a list. This list will mean you are making a firm commitment to having food on the day. We don't want a repeat of last year where we somehow made a loss on the BBQ - mainly due to people saying beforehand they were going to have food and didn't on the day (and therefore didn't pay) - and yet we'd already bought the food. That was the main reason we made a loss. If people say they are going to have food on the day, and on the day decide not to, sorry but you'll still have to pay for it.

So, can we please start a list for people who are willing to help so that we have a BBQ at PVS. The more the merrier, as it means each person can bring/do one little bit so that it's spread out and not being left to just a handful of people.

BBQs (as in the actual things)

    1) Duncan - one decent size BBQ along with plenty of charcoal.
    2)

    BBQ operators on the day

    1)
    2)
    3)
    4)
    5)
    6)

Food sourcers - buns, meat etc. (will obviously be reimbursed)

EDIT: PLEASE SEE THIS POST AS THIS PART HAS NOW CHANGED

Other bits 'n' pieces (anything else that will help on the day - maybe gazebos etc. Ideas welcome.)

Nice one guys - thanks. Don't worry, we're going to make it so that nobody is tied to a BBQ and miss out seeing stuff. We'll have a set-time in which the food is being cooked and served and then the kitchen will basically close.

Nice one. I've got a Makro card, just no longer near a Makro branch!! If somebody has a Makro or Cash and Carry card then that would obviously be handy.

Some person(s) to co-ordinate all the below on, and before, the day.

    1)
    2)

BBQs (as in the actual things)

    1) Duncan - one decent size BBQ along with plenty of charcoal.

    4) Ralph Wiggum (Dave) - I'll bring my own utensils, I bad workman always blames his tools
    5) Pricey - Happy to lend a hand
    6)

Food and stuff sourcers - buns, meat, relishes, plates etc. (will obviously be reimbursed)

    1)the GSI's...
    2)
    3)
    4)

Other bits 'n' pieces (anything else that will help on the day - maybe gazebos etc. Ideas welcome.)

    1) pricey - gazebo
    2)
    3)

OK, we're getting there folks - thanks to everyone so far. We're still short on sourcers of food etc. Anyone able to help out there? Getting some chicken legs and burgers (maybe some hot dogs for the kids?) would be sufficient - especially if you had access to a Makro/Cash and Carry type place, plus buns/finger rolls and other bits and bobs.

I've added a couple of spaces at the top to see if anyone would be willing to kinda co-ordinate the stuff on the day, and before, to make sure that all the bases were being covered.

    Many thanks

    D
