Default Servicing and the placebo effect

Well the car just had its second service at a main dealer as i wanted at least two VX stamps in the book.

It cost quite alot but it feels much quicker and having had the brake fluid changed the brakes are better too.

I always thought the car feeling better to drive after a service was the placebo effect but it has improved mine and i'm not imagining it

Just means that i can't afford the headunit i was after. Also the technician must have smelled a bit as my motor stinks of what i can only describe as cooked food!

Anybody else noticed a marked improvement after servicing??

No, I think it is your imagination after whatever crappy courtesy car they lumbered you with.

IMO defo placebo and not real.

They didn't give me a courtesy car as my insurance company wanted at least £15 to cover it for the day and it would only sit here at work.

They picked it up and returned it, washed but smelling inside good thing i work in a garage and can valet it properly (when it stops raining!)

I have often felt a difference after a service (though not on my Vectra, as its not been serviced yet).

When the Oil, filters etc are changed they will all be cleaner so in theory the car should be able to respond better.

This is part of the reason why you service a car?

    Thumbs up

Yeah i know the reason for servicing it, its my job after all.. i just chose not to have it done at work as i didn't want to end up with an Aston sized bill

But i didn't realise just how bad it had got! feels excellent, more throttle response, better braking etc. I'm sure its not just me...

Service was a little more than i had expected but overall very pleased, top marks to Evans Halshaw Hemel Hempstead

You must have caught them on a good day. I don't want to turn this site in a forum for moaning but those clowns messed me around something rotten. Phoned me at 5.55 to say car was ready for collection, you've guessed it they closed at 6. I had forgotten to take my jet pack that day.
Went to collect the following morning it was not ready so more time off work and to crown it they managed to loose my locking wheel nut, the spare bolts and the little black blow molded case they all go in. Considering it would have only cost them a few quid and a bit of good will to order me in a new locking wheel nut they instead took the line that it was not in the car when i gave it to them and nothing was their doing. They specifically asked me to leave it in the car so that they could take the wheels off.
Shame really they haven't adopted a 'customer centric' approach. I like the car, the brand but not so sure about the dealers.
