    Default Third rear headrest

It really puzzles me why Vx have left out the centre headrest in the SRi, hsa anyone attempted it as a Mod to add one?

I would have thought the Vx would have done it as its a safety feature....

My September 2004 SRi's got a third rear headrest fitted - I had assumed it was standard. It looks the just the same as the two outer ones and it can be adjusted up and down.
Up it destroys the already poor rear visibility, but down flush with the seat top, it looks fine and is out of the line of sight.
Mine is an ex fleet car and, in addition with the extra headrest, has automatic wipers and an automatic dipping mirror, both of these aren't listed as standard in the VX brochure.
Oh yes, and I've got the spring loaded cup holders that appear out of the front edge of the rear seat. I've seen SRi's without this feature. It's useless really to me as the kids aren't allowed to eat or drink in my car (but do what they like in the missus's Previa). It looks a bit flimsy really, but works okay nonetheless.
VX, like all other mainstream manufacturers, leave out odd desirable bits and pieces to try to get you to spend more buying a better model - or (even more profitably for them, no doubt) hoping you'll buy these bits from their parts department. I've bought and fitted the map light assembly, the glasses holder and the rear dome lamp myself - adding to GM's bulging coffers no doubt.

Years ago (a really long time ago) my dad bought a VX4/90 Victor (remember them). At that time you had to go right to the top of the range (to the Ventora) to get standard reversing lights! Amazingly, when he started looking round the car, he saw that all that was missing was the bulbs! He fitted bulbs, connected the spade connectors that had been left loose behind each light cluster and plugged in the gearbox switch - which was already in place in the side of the gearbox.
They save pennies leaving off these features, in the knowledge that many of us will spend hundreds (if not thousands) buying the "better models"
    Cynical, or what?

I have a third rear headrest as well. They can't be that hard to fit, surely.

Mine is company car, for which I am not allowed to order extras on.

On the one hand I'm p****d off with work for choosing Vauxhall (we used to be with Ford, I would have been about to received a Mondeo Ghia X!) but the SRi facelift looks better now than ever before. But things like the rear centre headrest, i am really puzzled why they've left it off all models except the Deisgn and Elite. Do Vx really think that all other models people are going to not want to carry three people in safety?

Just out of interest (as everyone is talking about extras) have many other SRI's got colour sat nav, parking sensors and sunroof.I'm yet to see another with this spec.Am I just blind or did I get lucky and find a quite rare one.
