    Default cat problem

    hi all,
    i'm after a bit of advice when i start my car i now get a smell of the cat come into the cabin,this then goes after a minute or 2 is the cat knackerd and will it be under warranty still.the car is a 55 plate reg jan 06 and done 18000miles

    If the cat has gone, yes it will be covered. BUT I don't know what you mean with 'smell of the cat' - - if you mean an acrid smell shortly after start, that is normal.

    You will notice it more when reversing too. My sister-in-law had a horrible time with her car. She had to either reverse up or down a long drive and it stank!

    yes it smells like rotten eggs,but why has it not done it for the last 6 months thou.thanks for your replys

    Have you changed your petrol supplier / brand, usually to do with the amount of sulphur content in the fuel (rotten eggs = hydrogen sulphide).

    I get it it sometimes with supermarket petrol

    They are all ULSP and therefore less than 50ppm S
