    Thumbs down Shamefull driving!

It pains me to see other Vectras being driven so badly. Just yeasterday I saw some complete moron driving a silver Vectra, reg DU55 ***, talking on a mobile, changing lane without indicating, they nearly killed a motor biker (not a massive loss but still) and the car they pulled out in front of.

I don't think it's the case that some people shouldn't have a licence so much as most! When's the government going to stop wasting everyones time chasing speeding issues that aren't even causing acidents and start chasing bad drivers! How often do you see inbreads just sitting in the middle lane of the motorway? Why don't they get charged?

I'm an angry man right now.

See it all the time. Phone use especially anoys me, and I'm amazed at the number I still see even though it's now a points offence.

Short of a new mod of mounting a .50 cal behind the grille I can't really see a fix for it - trouble is it's difficult to detect without decent resources and manpower - it's much easier to stick a few camera vans up and catch speeders than it is to gain evidence of bad driving, phone use etc.

Because the likes of me... A Police Traffic Officer, have had our numbers seriously reduced, and in some forces reduced to zero.
    We're too expensive apparently...??

Its absolutly disgraceful, when are they going to learn that we need more police on our roads, not just a camera stuck on every street corner. This type of policing needs to stay proactive rather than just been turned into a reactive measure. Our local station now seems to always have no less than 3 of their 6 'traffic' cars parked up constantly now instead of them being out on the roads making a difference like they are supposed to be.

I have noticed that some forces have already started to move away from speed cameras, due to the falls in income and offences

I recently complained in writing about people speeding along my local road, sign posted at 40mph
A week later there were at least four separate speed traps using three traffic cars, and I've never seen any in the three years I've lived here!
Ironically, I could watch their progress from my bedroom window, and I calculated that in one of the two hour sessions they issued 30 tickets, or the equivalent of £1800 in fines
On what must have been their final day I presented the letter at one of the standby cars and the traffic officer asked if I could come back in an hour as he would invite the Duty Inspector to attend
He admitted he was surprised at the degree of peoples speeding along such an urban road
Equally some drivers clearly thought it was still a 30mph road, which was resulting in people overtaking and with so many blind junctions these drivers were stopped but verbally warned only, no further action would be taken
I also asked how many people would be warned, prosecutd, etc., and said he would ask the local press to publish some figures once they were collated
    Over four days :
    165 speeding offences
27 other traffic or vehicle related offences
3 drug or drink driving offences

Speed cameras catch the motorist doing 80mph on a clear empty motorway, but not the idiot at 50mph who's going to kill somebody with reckless and selfish driving.
Cameras are unmanned substitutes for speeding but everything else needs an actual policeman there at that place, they need to up the numbers

To be fair, I would dare bet that most (if not all) of us have done a few stupid things in our times. It is very easy to condemn others.

Aye, saw this on Friday night :
drive along behind me for 10 miles, 12 minutes, at the speed limit of 50mph, then stick the foot down for 30 seconds of 100mph, and get done for Dangerous Driving by the unmarked police car that was in front of me!
