    Default Noisy Rear Suspension

    well after compaining for the past two and a half years about the rear suspension making knocking noises VX have now decided they wont do anything, I feel my local VX have fudged around the issue and taken an age to get around to looking into this and now the car is out of warranty.

    I have tried the usual customer care and case number route all to no joy.
    I even pointed out a letter in auto express where Peter Simpson says a problem has been reported on early models and I know several of you guys have had the same.

    Its not a big problem but its annoying, Over the past 6 years my wife and I have bought 3 Fronteras, 2 vectras, 2 Astras all 9 month old cars and 1 brand new Corsa and Meriva. Seems like the first time I want something back they say no sorry unless you complained about this in the first year of ownership (the car was 9 months old when I bought it) we wont do anything.

    I think when it comes to changing my car VX will be losing a long term customer. I certainly will not be using VX to service my car any longer -the only thing I can do now is vote with my feet.

    I take it you mean the senior manager at customer care??
    tried that couldn't get past his secretary, my local VX warned him I would be calling him.

    I had the same problem Cyb, I ended up getting 2 new shocks after going to customer care, when I didn`t get anywhere with them I spoke to Micheal Gibbons who is the customer services manager, after a few irate calls they agreed to take my car in, I gave them a list of faults, including the shocks, and they fixed the lot, even reassuring me they would not wash their hands of a car as soon as the warranty ran out ??

    Keep at them mate, and if you haven`t already spoken to Gibbon give him a bash ??

    Try writing to a woman called Sharon Lodge mate. She is one of the customer service managers. i had big problems with my corsa and i sent letter to all the directors names i could see on vaux website (kevin whale and stuart harris i think) and this lady wrote back to me. they fixed my car and then the fault happened again (9th time) so they agreed to give me a cash sum towards a new or network q car.

    Explain how many vauxhalls you have owned and that they will be losing your custom as well as the factyou wont be reccomending them. Might not help and they still might do nothing for you but worth a try maybe.

    Just read Bainies post i've dealt with Michael Gibbons as well, Very helpful though i found it hard to get through to him on telephone.

    I just don't get this whole year 2 & 3 warranty thing with Vauxhalls.

    If a car's sold with a three year warranty, then I would expect to be able to get even something as minor as a trim rattle fixed right up to the last day (and beyond if it was reported within the warranty period).

    I certainly wouldn't expect to have to pay any 'investigation' fees as some posters have mentioned.

    What's the definitive line re. what's covered and what's not?
