    Default Vauxhall VXR diesel

Looks like its going to be the Zafira first....

In the Zafira, the 1.9-litre will develop a useful 190bhp at 4000rpm and a mighty 270lb ft of torque from 1400rpm onwards. That’s 50bhp down but a useful 35lb ft up on the current VXR petrol model. Vauxhall is still tight-lipped about performance figures – it doesn’t arrive for another eight months, remember – but we expect it shadow the petrol VXR with a 0-60mph time of 7.5sec and top out at about 135mph, while still returning 48mpg on the combined cycle. Expect an on-the-road price of just under £25,000.

I think it'll still need it. 190bhp isnt a lot as standard. But a lot more than the standard 1.9 150 I suppose.

I don't know if it will be capable of any more than the current CDTI, infact, it probably won't make as much... Unless of course it's a twin turbo.

Mine makes about 270lbft by 1850rpm, a remap may allow this to come in further down by changing the turbo vaines control charicteristics.

Further more, mine makes 190bhp before 3000rpm (around 2700-2800rpm) so they may well have put a smaller turbo in to spin up faster and give more torque earlier.

    It is a twin turbo:

Its engineers have been working flat-out on developing a twin-turbo version of its venerable 1.9-litre CDTi diesel engine. Three years ago, Opel displayed an OPC-tweaked twin-turbo diesel Vectra at the Geneva Motor Show – and come early next year, the production version will power the facelifted Zafira, creating Luton’s first diesel-powered VXR.

I'll believe it when I see it! People have been saying this on and off since the OPC proto-type was first shown.

If it does come out, again, it is unlikely to make more BHP at top end than the standard one. The smaller turbo gives it a much faster pick-up but it uses a simular sized larger turbo.

If they are limiting the torque to 270lbft, then they will almost certainly use the same F40 gearbox. So the only benifit may be that faster 0-60 time

hopefully it will be an all new unit, block and all. Sounds interesting with twin turbos though - should be tunable to give some really serious poke

edit: did anyone see the third page there - it talks about the vectra/insignia version being 215bhp/295lbs!
    And a 250bhp 2.9 V6 diesel.... wow weee.....

You'd of expected more than 190bhp with twin turbos though. The Caterman box for £65 gives you that
