    Default Lighting problem

    Hi all,
Driving home last night I had a warning for a rear right brake light failure come on. When I got home, I had a look and all three are working. any idea what the problem is?

    Cheers,

    Johnny Kebab

There was a post about this the other day - IIRC it said the side light will take over the functions of the brake light if it fails so it may just look like they're all working - best to take the bulbs out & check them

The rear s/light and b/light both use a 21w bulb (2 per side) and the can-bus sends a lower voltage to one to give s/lights and full voltage for the b/lights.The joys of can-bus/multiplex wiring!.

It is annoying, i have done about 5 bulbs in 9 ish months (poss due to loud music) and i can never remember which bulb does the brake light. So i can see one is lower than the other but dont know which one is right.

This post may help to explain the behaviour of the Vectra C brake lights.

I think I also read somewhere that if you have AFL headlamps and one fails, it will use the fog lamp as a substitute - can anyone confirm this?
