Not sure TBH. I'm not sure if anyone has tried just putting a pre-facelift switch on to see what happens! I don't know if it has the same connections. Tell you what, I'll show you you mine if you show me yours!

Here's the connections and wiring on mine. You'd need to try the pre-facelift switch to see if it worked first (it may need a Tech 2 though!), then you'd need the different surround for the door card to take the switch. First thing to look at is whether the wiring into the switch is the same on the facelift. I bet it's just two wires for the windows and nothing else!

How do the switch come out?
do they just pop out or are they screwed in?

    Right,
popped the cover of, easy just needed a screwdriver.

The plugs look different and there seems to be more wires 6 in total.

So do you think it's a goer. If it is then I'd like to do this so i can give the wife the ability to unlock/lock the doors from the button.

Given the plug you've got on yours, I'd say it's a definite non-goer. Yours is a square 6 pin (can't think why 6 pins when all it's doing on the facelift is the window!!) and on the pre-facelift it's a straight four pin. There's no way your plug is going to go into a pre-facelift switch.

Alternatively, you wife could just pull the pin in the top of the door

Default switch wiring in passenger door

Does anyone know what the 6 wires feeding the window switch on the passenger door are for.

Are they all needed for the electric window or do some of them do other things.

Suppose I'm really after someone with some wiring knowledge.

Did any facelift cars have the buttons on the passenger side like the pre facelift ones.

Or did the switches change when they went full canbus and where their any full canbus pre facelift cars that had these buttons on the passenger side.

Does TIS show us anything regarding this?

I don't think so - seemed to coincide with the switch to facelift.

The pre-facelift full CanBus I'm sure still had the pre-facelift switch (with door unlock and boot unlock) - but I wonder if they have the same wiring as the facelift like yours! Maybe a pre-facelift owner with full CanBus can see what wiring they have on theirs.

    EPC might....

(BTW - I did a bit of moving around to make this a separate thread for you. )
