    Default unsure about noise

i have a rumble type noise when driving. not sure where its coming from but it seem constant, does get louder as i go faster or when i go round a corner. its like tyre noise but does change when going over different surfaces.car drives in a straight line and brakes in a straight line.

    anybody any ideas?

If its any consolation I'm having the same problem with my Signum. I intend to swop the the wheels from front to rear at the weekend and see if it makes any difference as I have different tyres on the rear. At the same time I'll check the wheel bearings. I will report back if I find anything.

Does it sound as if its coming from one wheel,if its like a droning noise it could be a wheel bearing

Thanks for that. Yes it does come from one wheel and its like a droning noise but the noise does change when going over different surfaces. That's why I thought tyres, but it has recently had new discs and pads, so maybe they knackered the bearing when doing this.

Had a similar problem and thought it was a wheel bearing, turned out to be the rear tyres were knackered. The tyres were uneven on the inside and that was due to knackered rear shock absorbers and the car's only done 35k.

I have had my Signum for 12months now done 35k and have always had this like rumble noise coming from the front, starts about 15mph and its a bit like a wind noise but think its coming from the o/s front area. I had a lot of road noise from the rear and 2 dealer techies didnt think that was abnormal but once I changed my rear tyres the noise went. Then a few months later I changed my rear shocks cos they were leaking slightly then started banging now and again , the rear seams nice and quiet now. just before the 3 year warranty run out i had a mot and my o/s front spring had snapped. swapped under warranty but the rumble has always remained. with new springs on the front and shocks on the rear i have decided to replace both front shocks and the o/s wheel bearing. I got a good deal to supply all 3 but now just gotto get them fitted, im hoping its gunna sort the rumble sound, i cant think of what else to try.

thanks for the input going to check the front tyres(nct5) as one is worn more than the other and possible rear end too this weekend as well as a service. Its not a droning noise and maybe its just me but its seems to be worse when the weather warm. its not as noticable in a morning as it is in the evening when returning home.

I've had same rumble noise but only when I go over one particular road, which doesn't seem such a bad or uneven surface.

As I don't drive on that section often I've ignored it. Don't get any sound at all like that on any other road, very odd.
