Default Clean and Shiny vs A SMALL boat.

Me and Captain Pugwash aka Adrian were given the task of getting a mere 40ish foot boat ready for the high seas once again.

Adrian was contacted by the owner Roger as his boat was being lifted out of the water for yearly maintenance.

    Evaluation and Brief:
Roger had owned the boat for just over a year and had waxed it himself but he could never get it to really shine, we were asked to go along and evaluate the boat with a view to getting the shine back into it. When I had a look it was basically the effects of the salt water and the sun had had on it. There was Gel Coat that was slowly turning a little bit yellow on the edges but mainly it was just dull.

While evaluating I had a go at a square to see how hard it would be

    The Process

    • Complete rinse down with water from the hose.

    • PO85RD 3.02 on a Meguiars Polishing Pad Rotary Polished.

    • Last Touch wipe down once polishing stage completed.

    • Meguiars Colour Restorer used on parts we couldnt get to with the Rotary.

    • Meguiars Boat Polish applied to complete boat by hand.

    • Collinite 915 applied to complete boat by hand.

    • Einszett Metal Polish applied to all chrome and metal on the boat.

The first part of the process was completed while the boat was out of the water and was having various mechanical bits done as well as having the anti fouling underneath renewed.

It was blowing an absolute gale when we did this (force 5-6) I got off the step ladder at one point and it nigh on blew away! So I actually forgot to get some complete before pics, but heres the during and afters.

So far we had done 10 hours of polishing.

We went back a week later and I enlisted the help of Roger the Cabin Boy AKA Paul to help as Adrian was going to have to leave early and I knew it was going to be too much for one man to do in one day! (I had also been working on another boat the day before and was feeling a tad tired!)

Not much more words wise to say about the second day so on with the pictures!

You can see the dullness at the front off the photo and the shinyness as it goes back...

Apparently on boats its all about the lights too

We only lost a couple of things too...

All in all a few hard days work. I must say thanks again to Reg who worked ****** hard with me that day and will probably never want to ever help me again..!

As we didnt leave until it was very....

    Thanks for Reading.

That's one heck of a surface area to deal with, I don't envy you one little bit.
