Smile Impreza WRX Gone Signum to Come

I doubt anyone will remember but I had a 2004 Vectra SRI 1.9 [150] until March and sold it. I have had a brand new WRX since early March and I have just agreed a sale. I have sold it becuase It brings out my dark side and I want to go sideways around everybend, also it is a little cramped and I cannot sit low enough and the radio is terrible and upgrading is no good without sound deadening the doors and Gordon Brown has decided I need to pay £400 a year road tax. One thing I want to say though the handling is superb, no lift over steer and great low down and mid range power, the speeds you can go around wet bends full of pot holes and gravel is amazing but becuase it can you want to. I will argue all day that an Astra VXR, Golf GTI or Focus RS are not in the same league, they maybe near in a straight line but driving on crappy country lanes the WRX is king.

I have just reserved a 56 plate Signum Design 150 diesel with 7k on the clock for 13k, picking it up Wednesday. Will it have a Diesel Particulate Filter? I had a CR1 tuning box before what box should I get this time?

the VXRPC map is, i may be mistaken, the only map you can get without vauxhall throwing a wobbly over. i don't think it affects your warranty.

i wouldn't put any of the hot hatches in the same league as a WRX, four wheel drive afterall, and almost a perfect family car

hi Steve - was seriously looking at your cdti before you sold it!

i too had an impreza before this and it was the most fun ive ever had in a car...however the 17mpg was doing my head in!!

was tempted to get another one for next summer......didnt realise tax was that much on them though!!!

The £400 road tax effects many more vehicles than people think, the WRX was only about 14 gramms too high but enough for the highest bracket. I did ok with the fuel I got between 24 and 29 MPG which for that type of car is quite good.

I think once people realise about the tax certain cars will be worthless in a few years, the WRX maybe. What might Gordon Brown do to high emission cars in 2009 you can bet the road tax will be well over £400 and still very little actually getting spent on the roads.

Jamesy, you happy with the Vectra? Diesel convert now?

when i went out looking for cars, i first looked at an Impreze wagon on a 55 plate, i had a a test drive and all, and i will also agree that the cabin is very cramped especially the seats for the Wife(Shhhh).
I got as far as to puttng my name on the paper work , then the misses saw the Vectra, and thats history now
In my opion the vectra was a better buy for the everyday miles that i am doing but i will always have the impreza in side.
