Default 3.0 CDTi Warm up times

    Hi,
Quick question for those on the forum who've got 3.0 CDTIs, are they slow to warm up.

The route I take to work involves driving the first 5-10 minutes on 30mph roads and then a short blast of 5-10 minutes down a dual carriageway. Although you do get heat out of the air-con fairly quickly, its not unusual for the temp guage not to have moved by the time it makes the dual carriageway and another 3 or 4 minutes before it reachs 85 degrees or so. Except on a very hot day it never actually makes 90 degrees (middle of guage). On purely 30 mph roads it can take it 20-25 minutes to warm up fully unless driving hard.

Is this normal? The dealer seems to think it is.

    Reagrds,

    Dieselvec1

I think the 1.9 is the same - takes bl00dy ages to warm up. I think most diesels do. My Vecb 1.8 heated up really quick.

My 1.9 warms up nicely, and doesn't take too long in my opinion. I may time it on a cold morning and let you guys know.

Remember the water has got a long way to go in a V6 so it may take a little longer.

yep my 1.9 takes a good 10 mins fo rthe gauge to move, although warm air is already flowing nicely through the vents and the heated seats are nice and toasty. When the gauge does start to move though, it flys up within 30 secs to operating temp

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

My current 1.8 warms up a lot quicker than my old 2.0 DTi Vec B. Probably down to the larger engine mass and therefore more thermal inertia. or put simply - more mass to warm up before the heater works....

Get heated seats as above, or an electric heater in the air ducting...... IDEA>

BTW do the CDTi have air inlet heaters on the engine? Separate to glow plugs and are sometime called grid heaters.
