    Default Tyre noise excessive

I have a Vectra facelift 07 plate and since i've got it i have found the road noise from the tyres unacceptable. It is very intrusive and noisy. The tyres are Bridgestone Furanza ER300 215/55 XR16 tyres.

I found another post from another forum and i quote ....

"This is unbelievable, we have just purchased a vectra Design 1.9 cdti 150 having exchanged with our vectra 2.2 dti Vectra Elegance - the Elegance was whisper quite but the new vectra with Bridgstone tourenza tyres is driving us mad (and we only got it on Saturday) with the noise in the cabin (tyre noise is the main source)

We had two lots of tyres on the last car, Dunlop being the latest - no noise problems with either . I know the suspension has had some changes so that may be the problem? I note in the Vectra booklet page 6 it states the new refinement definition as " the ability to conduct a civilised conversation at motorway speeds" tosh - I suspect we could claim damages for noise induced hearing damage if we continue to use this car"

Does anyone know what i can do about it(other than go out and buy 4 new tyres).Has anyone contacted their dealer over tyre noise and if so what was the outcome.

Seems a shame to spoil such a good car cos of tyre noise

Go back to the dealers and complain m8, it does sound like a tyre problem. Failing that, a call to Vx customer services

Does anyone know the number for customer services? pls

Also is it the /55 number that is how big the wall is?

Unlike most on this site i would rather have more tyre wall than less.So would i have to go to a /60 to get more wall?I would rather have a soft and relaxing ride rather than a sporty feel.

Get it back to the dealers mate, and dont take any of that "......they all do that Sir.....". If they say that, get them to prove it by taking you out in another car of similar spec.
I belive this number is customer services: 08450 902 044

You cant go changing the profile of the tyre unless you change the wheel for a smaller diameter wheel. I dont think you would want to go to 15's

I initially thought the noise was from the tyres
After some further tests, thanks to access to the lab in Aberdeen, the noise is far lower than in other cars and appears ot be caused by the lower engine noise at higher speed
As a result the tyres sound louder than they actually are

Tyre noise is a major complaint on Bridgestones. I have the Potenza RE050 on the front of my car, and some Accelera Ditchfinder £30-wonders on the back, and the RE's are considerably noisier, especially as they've worn.

But, don't worry, the ER300 will be worn out in 15k anyway.

I had the same problem with my last car and and it had Bridgestone potenza's fitted to it.Apparently Bridgestone's are quite bad for this.

I had a Bridgestone tyre noise problem in the first few months of driving my 2003 - 2.0 DTi that progressively got worse, so bad it sounded like a rear wheel bearing was going. I booked it into a main dealer under warranty, who concluded the rear tyres were not round and were out of shape (like a 50p) and blamed my heavy braking? New tyres all round (Michelin) completely cured the problem and the following sets of Dunlop’s were also very quite.

My latest Vectra, a 2007 - 1.9 CDTi 150, has Bridgestone’s fitted and it is not as quite as my old car with the Dunlop’s. I have only just completed 1,000miles and they are OK – I guess it will not belong before I am changing them to something better.
