    Angry front windscreen wipers

Sorry if its been posted before but today i found out that the front wipers have a falut on the linkage. I am supposed to be covered by a Platinum warranty( ye right).

I rang the warranty company to inform them i had a problem and as the wipers are included in the warranty thought i would be covered.

anyway they told me to go to a garage so i picked the local stealer, to cut a long story short, Vauxhall know there is a fault on the older vectra c's wiper linkage, ie it pops off after a period of time. The warranty for the car was out by 2 months from VX but i managed to get some discount on the fix,

    whats the fix?

if this happens to you then its a new linkage arm and a new wiper motor including fitting it comes to around £380.

I dont know if it helps anyone, but its not a recall as far as the service dept says at the local stealer.

maybe i should have read the how to first usual thing found it after the fact.

anyone know if the new linkage fits ok on the old type motor as vx stealer says its doesn't

    Mac.

the new linkage fits the old motor yes, they just bolt straight on with the new bolts suppiled in the linkage kit....the parts to fit are only £55+vat for the linkage, so they are swinging the lead a bit with that price..

My linkage fell apart last Saturday night when coming back from Wales. Luckily neither MLC or Jamie saw me driving through Worcestershire with only the driver's side wiper working!!

I have the Vauxhall Sureguard warranty and the dealer replaced the motor as well as the entire linkage FOC.

Only problem was that I had a puncture in the offside rear coming back from the dealers and, of course, it was outside the area that could be repaired so a new one was fitted today. The tyre had only done 5,000 miles as well. Why couldn't it have been the front which had done 15,000 miles?

same happened to my 03 veccy, cant afford to replace the linkage at the mo, so used a cable tie to stop it from popping off again, its been fine now for the last 4 months
