Default Help 2.2 DTI turbo hoses inside covered in oil

Hi guys, a couple of months ago i had to change the boost pipe, the one comin from the turbo after the metal pipe on top of the engine. when i did this i noticed a little oil comin from the little pipe directly off the turbo. But thought nothing of it. Now i have the same symptoms as before (whistling/blowing noise when accelerating, loss of power). So i checked the hoses again. Now the charge hose has split, the one on the right hand side front of the engine going into the manifold. When i removed this hose the inside was caked in oil and also the inside of the manifold and the butterfly valve was covered in oil. I noticed as well that when i revved the engine this hose expands quite a bit. Can anyone help me please?? or am i worrying about nothing?? Is oil normal to be inside this hose???

Hi Neil, there will be a small accumulation of oil residue inside the pipes, so don't worry too much about that.

As for expansion, they will do a little bit, it's just the way it is.

cheers mate, i was worrying then about the oil in the pipe. Thought the turbo was on its last legs and spitting out oil throught the pipes.Gonna pop down stealers and order a hose, had to put duct tape on as a tempory measure. Got any idea how much this hose is?

I got quoted £197 a couple of weeks ago, seems you can't just by the hose.... You have to buy the pipes etc as well.

Let me know if you do manage to get just the hose.

just been down to vx to order one. they dont do the hose just by itself, it comes with another plastic pipe. It cost me £71 including vat. Should be pickin it up tommorrow. The boost pipe on the other side that i changed a few weeks ago cost me £101 including vat and that comes with another metal pipe on it. Dont know why the manufacturers cant sell the the rubber hose on its own

    Cool

It seems prices can vary.. But at the end of the day, they are stealing Gits. How can VX charge £100 - £200 for a piece of shaped hose??????
I did reply to another thread here, as to how I fixed mine for £11, but can't seem to find it. Basically used lots of high temp silicone and another piece of hose, cut to cover the split.
Seems to work fine, but getting a new car on Monday, so as long as it lasts until then.......
