Anyone driven a S60 d5 163 Bhp manual, If so what was it like. The 5 cyl sounds excellent & can be chipped to 200 very easily.

I've driven a V70 d5 manual. absoloutly superb engine, so efortless to drive and theres shed loads of power to play with in standard form.
The one i had experience with is on an '04' plate and has had 65,000 trouble free miles so far, which is always a good thing. Mixed driving it's averaging just over 30mpg aswell which isn't too bad.
Certainly brought a smile to my face and i'd have one tomorrow if the bank manager would let me.
Driven an S60, think it's a 2.0 or near it, lovely drive, neat interior and driving position, would have one if they weren't so dam expensive.
I must admit they are not too cheap but a dealer ( http://www.jack-ford.co.uk )near to us (40 miles) had an 2004 04 for £6900 but it did have 90k on the clock but was spotless with a genuine 12 month cover on all parts & labour. High miles has never really bothered me as it is about 4k cheaper than a 50k example and that does appeal to me. but it's sold now. I will be keeping the Vec as well as its an 2004 with 101k miles and only worth about £2.5 - 2.8 so it's woth more to me.
Brother in law has an S60 D5 and it has got a lovely engine, but to be honest (and im not biased or anything) it's no match for the Vec V6.
The S60 (an i can't believe im saying this) isn't as solid as the vec! The doors feel very light etc. Feels more Ford than Volvo IMHO.
Yep, the focus floor pan is used and I think they used one of the Mazda 6 floor pans for one of the Volvo's too .
I think Volvo have lost there identity now, purely because you can get their 5 pot in the Focus and new Mondeo ST's IMO they should have kept the 5 pot for Volvo, it was one of the things which made them a bit different (and it's a great engine)
Volvo's identity as a "premier" car brand is dwindling away IMO although I am very tempted towards a V70 at some time in the future.
I thought the S40 was the focus floor pan
Jack Ford does tend to sell ex Police cars mind Some of their cars have been known to be a touch knackered when sold, and aftersales a bit sketchy.. Please note tho that I was told this about 5 years ago by two people I knew that bought cars there, it could have changed since then.
I asked the same question on here a few months ago, can't remember who told me now but one of you guys has a fleet at work and they had loads of probs with them and a couple needed new lumps apparently
