    Default Speaker number difference?

Sorry if this has been asked before, and also if its in a spec sheet anywhere...but i couldnt find it...anyway...

Looking in a 2003 MY Brochure at the stereo spec at the back, says about the CDR2005 and CCR2006 etc but its the speakers that i dont understand...

It says the CDR2005 has 7 speakers and the CCR2006 has 9....but firstly why the odd number?, as surely there is an equal number of 2 (1 full range& 1 tweeter) in each door?, thus evening the total number out to 8 (i originally thought there must be a small subwoofer somewhere making the odd number, but apparently not)

And secondly, why the difference anyway, which 2 speakers are missing from the 2005 set-up, mid range or what?

    any info greatly recieved

There is one speaker on the dash in the centre of the grill towards the windscreen. So a seven speaker would be 2 full range to rear doors, 2 full range and 2 tweeters to the front doors plus the dashboard speaker.

I should imagine that the 9 speaker system has tweeters in each rear door.

The difference between 7 and 9 is the rear door tweeters. On 9 setups they are near the handle - you'll see a grille (although a grille doesn't always indicate speakers as some 7 models have them - just no tweeter behind)

The odd number is the centre speaker on the dash. The vent that runs along the top of the dash by the windscreen has a centre speaker under the centre section. More for speech like on Radio 4 etc.

    EDIT: Beaten to it!

As long as the wiring is there and the head unit supports it.

Certainly is. The Dash speaker also gives a bit more detail to most types of music. Also putting the tweeters in the back is a doddle, even if, like mine, the wiring isn't there.

All I did, was remove the door cards, take out the speaker, open the plug, feed the wires in and close it, connect the tweeter, snap it in place and rebuild the car. Job Done.

Took me about three months (literally) to get the handles off though!

    Cheers Duncan.
