just wondering if its possible to install the vauxhall sat nav into my car using the screen already in there for the on board computer?

my mate borrow a toyota the other day and all he had to do was load a sat nav installer cd in the cd player and it loaded up for him....is this poss with the vec's?

Don't think so - you'll need (at least) a whole new radio/computer module thats got the sat nav hardware, you'd need the gps ariel base and whatever wiring to connect it all up.

    Go for aftermarket....

Find yourself a cheap PDA and buy tomtom! lol Or... they've got median gps units in Sainsbury's for £100.. not sure how good they are but surely it still gets you from A to B giving you directions!?

Plus the guy's reckon the Vx one isn't that good either, Hellfords have one on offer for about £129, think it's a Navman one. hth.

I don,t think you will go wrong if you choose a Tom Tom or the likes, that is what we use and they are simple to use and you can take them from car to car.

I've recently bought a Signum with the built-in nav. system and compared to the
Garmin Streetpilot I already owned it is overly complicated to use, the need to input the full address as opposed to just the postcode is nuts.

On the CD70 Sat Nav, you can just input the Postcode - am not sure which Sat Nav you have, but it may be worth you reading the instructions to see if yours has the facility for this too.

I'll have to take another look at the instructions, cheers Dave!
