Dash/clocks problem
The dash board on my Vectra is doing some weird things today.
The speedo is stuck on 40mph and rev counter on 1500
The only light which comes on is EML which goes off as usual upon starting the car.
No before this a few weeks ago one morning the dash was dead, no lights or clocks working, then after driving for a bit all came to life again.
Any ideas?

I've tried removing and reinserting the fuses as recommended in another thread.
Also disconnected the battery a while to see if it would reset.
Never touched the ABS plug though, not sure how it comes up.
Also tried tapping around dash/steering column.
Been for a drive today too.
Now luck with any of these.
Is there anything else i can try?
I have a long drive tomorrow, is there any risk the car could breakdown because of this?
Thanks

Possible the solder has cracked on plug to board.

Thanks, Can the dash panel be just changed for another one or does it need programmed ?
Think its easy enough to remove dash panel and have a look at the solder, might be hard to see the fault though.

Few options you can if your lucky buy one from people who will transfer data to your replacement, or read the info yourself and transfer the data(not hard with a few cheap/ish parts), which then no programming needed. Or replacement with code program in but mileage will then need to corrected. Best to get a cheap diagnostics o/c, v/c to read fault codes it’s not hard todo and can save a lot off time looking at the wrong thing. Also will let you program it in.

Just a quick update, today i was driving down the road and for no particular reason decided to push the trip counter reset button on dash and everything came back to life again!
Hopefully it stays like that
Cheers everyone
