    Default Boost T valves

Has anybody with a turbo fitted one of these.
    Good idea or bad.

I believe it holds back the boost / leaks out boost depending upon which type you get away from the actuator and electronic shut off.

My mate with c20let engine upon astra 2.0t gains 22bhp surposely by having substainable boost and increasing turbo psi by a pre -determined or adjustable level, upon the cheap option.

    Worth going for or not?

    Default

Ah the old bleed valve. This was the "preferred" method of upping power on a turbo car. It works by leaking off air in the vacumm between the inlet manifold and the actuator, fooling the actuator into thinking the turbo is producing less boost than it is and opening at higher pressure, thus giving between 15-30bhp before the fuelling gets to weak. unfortunately this doesnt work on modern turbos as they have an electronic boost control solenoid that acts as a safety backup to the main actuator spring. Getting the ECU rempped is the only option I'm afraid. Even the C20 LET needs a new chip to bypass the boost safety valve (like the EBCS but more crude).
